Residents are at risk. Fix aged care staffing rules.

Email Federal Aged Care Minister Ken Wyatt and ask him to fix understaffing in nursing homes by introducing nurse/ carer to resident ratios

There are no rules, no laws and no regulations that ensure there are enough nurses and carers to safely care for people living in Australia’s private and not-for profit nursing homes.

In 2003 there were 16,265 registered nurses employed in aged care for 149,232 residents and by 2016 this had dropped to 14,564 for 235,000 residents.

Our parents, grandparents and loved ones who can no longer live at home deserve safe, quality care and respect.

Please take action and email Federal Aged Care Minister Ken Wyatt. Tell him to fix understaffing in nursing homes by introducing nurse/ carer to resident ratios.

Your email will also be sent to Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Opposition Leader Bill Shorten and Opposition Spokesperson for Ageing Julie Collins so they know voters are demanding change. It will also go to Senator Derryn Hinch who has introduced an aged care ratios amendment bill into Federal Parliament.
