Respect Recognise Reward Darebin City Council Nurses

After more than three years of the COVID-19 pandemic there’s a serious disconnect between employers thanking nurses for their frontline work and their refusal to improve pay and conditions.

After more than three years of the COVID-19 pandemic there’s a serious disconnect between employers thanking nurses for their frontline work and their refusal to improve pay and conditions.

Darebin City Council maternal and child health nurses and immunisation nurses have courageously been taking protected industrial action since 18 May 2023 as part of their campaign for a fair pay rise.

The nurses’ union, the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (Victorian Branch) has been negotiating a new enterprise bargaining agreement with Darebin City Council for 10 months.

The Council’s management continues to reject a fair pay rise, it has said no to any increases to allowances and refuses to protect time during work to undertake required education – citing financial constraints. It is also refusing ANMF members’ claims for two ten-minute rest breaks.

After working tirelessly on the frontline with families during the pandemic, maternal and child health and immunisation nurses feel undervalued and disrespected by Darebin City Council. Enough is enough.

If you have agreed, ANMF (Vic Branch) will only use your information to update you on this campaign.

Authorised P. Gilbert, Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (Victorian Branch), 535 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne.
