The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (Victorian Branch) has been negotiating maternal and child health nurses pay and conditions with City of Greater Geelong Council for the past 16 months.

Talks have reached a stalemate with the Council refusing the nurses’ request for basic safety net conditions, specifically a fifth week of annual leave, contained in the modern Nurses Local Government Award 2015. The nurses cannot legally access these basic conditions unless the Council agrees to attach the Award, or includes the conditions, in their enterprise agreement.
